  • 6 ripe tomatoes
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
