Pea hummus is one of my favorite versions of traditional hummus. Mixing peas with hummus and a few simple ingredients creates a beautiful green, creamy texture that tastes great with many meals.

The recipe for this pea hummus is really simple and quick, I always make it in just 10 minutes, Plus, it’s fully customizable. You can make it extra creamy or even spicy by adding chili flakes.

I love adding olive oil to my pea hummus, it gives it a nice, flavorful touch that I always enjoy with my hummus dishes.

One of my favorite meals to have with this pea hummus is rustic potatoes, especially when I cook them with herbs, along with some chicken fries. Whenever I make pea hummus, these are the meals I always look forward to having with it.

Pea hummus is a veggie version of traditional hummus, Based on using and mixing peas with tahini, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, and cumin to create a smooth, green dip. Like any Hummus recipe, It’s easy to make, taking just minutes to prepare and The result is always delicious with that fresh, slightly sweet pea flavor, balanced by the nutty tahini and zesty lemon. Also, this Hummus version is fully customizable, you can make it extra creamy or add a bit of spice as you want.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups frozen peas, thawed
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2-3 tablespoons water (to thin, if needed)

how to Make Pea hummus?

Step 1:

First, Throw the frozen peas by leaving them in the fridge and Drain the water so they aren’t too wet.

Step 2:

Put the peas, tahini, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, cumin, salt, and pepper in your food processor. Blend until it’s smooth and creamy. Scrape the sides to mix everything well.

Step 3:

If it’s too thick for you, you can add 2-3 tablespoons of water. Blend again until it’s soft and creamy.

Step 4:

Now, Taste the hummus. Add more salt, pepper, or lemon juice if needed. You can also add some garlic if you like it stronger.

Step 5:

Put the pea hummus in a bowl. and Enjoy.

Some Tips!

  • Frozen peas are easy to find and work well for this hummus, just make sure they are thawed before blending and If you have fresh peas, you can use them instead. Boil them for 2-3 minutes, then cool before using.
  • Remember to only add a little water while blending to control how creamy the hummus becomes.
  • You can add more garlic or lemon juice to make the hummus taste just how you like it.

How to Store Leftovers?

You can keep pea hummus in a tightly closed container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Make sure the lid is on really well to keep it fresh. If the hummus gets too thick in the fridge, just mix in a little olive oil as I did to make it creamy again.

What to Eat with Pea Hummus?

Pea hummus as I said before is so versatile and pairs nicely with lots of dishes. If you want something crunchy with your hummus crispy pita chips or veggie sticks like carrots, cucumbers, and bell peppers will be great sides to have with it. It also makes a great spread on warm pita bread or Publix Breakfast Bread. My favorite side with this hummus is always potatoes seasoned with herbs or chicken fries for a delicious, filling meal. You can also use this Pea Hummus as a topping for grilled chicken or fish if you want, With pea hummus and like any other Hummus side, the options for sure are endless.
