It’s my first time making sushi. To be honest, it was an enjoyable experience albeit a bit challenging, but I did well. I made Lobster Roll Sushi, which includes delicious textures inside made with lobster and other ingredients, along with a spicy sauce and additional garnishes that make it look beautiful and delicious.

I was encouraged to make this Lobster Roll Sushi recipe after my husband expressed a desire for a Japanese meal. We occasionally order such meals from a local restaurant nearby. So, I got the idea: why not try making a sushi recipe myself? I spend a lot of time in my kitchen exploring and creating new recipes, so it seemed like a fun challenge.

I searched for the best sushi recipe to start with, and when I saw lobster, I thought lobster sushi would be amazing since both my husband and I love lobster. The two ingredients you need to get the best quality of are the Nori sheets and sushi rice.

The plate turned out gorgeous and delicious. I got creative with the garnishing, and you can too—everyone can garnish their own sushi as they like. I personally love it spicy, so I added spicy sauce, tempura-fried jalapeño rings, and some onions as well. It turned out exactly as we expected, perfect!

The dish has a beautiful looking include rice, lobster, and other creative garnishing on top and of course, the sauce that made it perfect, The Lobster Roll Sushi needs some skills and time to be made perfectly, You need to cook sushi rice and mix it with vinegar, sugar, and salt, Then, take a piece of seaweed called nori and lay it down. put slices of cucumber and avocado on top of the rice. The best part is the lobster, it’s cooked and mixed with a sauce that’s a bit spicy roll everything up tightly, cut it into pieces, and decorate each piece with crispy jalapeño rings, green onions, and tiny sesame seeds.

Ingredients

For the Sushi Roll:

  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 lobster tail, cooked and chopped
  • 1 cucumber, julienned
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1 sheet nori (seaweed)
  • 1/4 cup tempura batter (for frying jalapeños)
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, sliced into rings

For the Spicy Lobster Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp sriracha sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp lime juice

For Garnish:

  • Thinly sliced green onions
  • Sesame seeds
  • Tempura-fried jalapeño rings

How to Make Lobster Roll Sushi?

Preparing the Sushi Rice:

Step 1:

Start by rinsing the sushi rice under cold water. Keep rinsing until the water runs clear, which removes excess starch.

Step 2:

Place the rinsed rice and water in a rice cooker and cook according to the manufacturer’s instructions. If you don’t have a rice cooker, bring the rice and water to a boil in a saucepan. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes.

Step 3:

In a small saucepan, combine the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Heat the mixture until the sugar and salt are fully dissolved. Transfer the cooked rice to a large bowl, then fold in the vinegar mixture. Allow the seasoned rice to cool to room temperature before using.

Preparing the Spicy Lobster Sauce:

Step 1:

In a medium-sized bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sriracha sauce, sesame oil, and lime juice. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

Step 2:

Add the chopped lobster meat to the bowl with the spicy mayo mixture. fold the lobster into the sauce until it is evenly coated.

Assembling the Lobster Roll Sushi:

Step 1:

Lay a sheet of nori’s shiny side down on a bamboo sushi mat that has been covered with plastic wrap. This setup will help in rolling the sushi neatly and prevent sticking.

Step 2:

Wet your hands with water to prevent the rice from sticking to them. Take a handful of sushi rice and evenly spread it over the nori sheet, leaving about a 1-inch border at the top edge.

Step 3:

Horizontally place the cucumber and avocado slices across the center of the rice. Spoon some amount of the spicy lobster mixture on top of the cucumber and avocado.

Step 4:

Starting with the edge of the mat closest to you, lift it and begin rolling the sushi away from you. Apply gentle but firm pressure to keep the roll tight and secure. Continue rolling until you reach the end of the nori sheet.

Step 5:

Using a sharp knife, cut the sushi roll into 6 to 8 pieces. Wipe the knife with a damp cloth between cuts to ensure clean slices.

Serving:

Step 1:

Dip the sliced jalapeño rings into tempura batter and fry them in hot oil until they are crispy.

Step 2:

Arrange the sushi pieces on a serving platter. Drizzle them with additional spicy mayo (This is optional, each can make his own garnishing). Top each sushi piece with a tempura-fried jalapeño ring. Sprinkle with thinly sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Enjoy.

We enjoy our Lobster Roll Sushi with some sides, I love to add additional sauces to it, I pair it with Tartar sauce from Captain D’s, and the taste is amazing, Also I eat it with some leftovers from Neva’s Potatoes I had in the refrigerator, and it completed the meal.

I see some people love it with soup for a warm meal, or Edamame beans sprinkled with sea salt for a crunchy meal, You can also try it with a simple salad of mixed greens and tuna and vinaigrette dressing for a fresh and balanced meal. As for drinks, We just enjoy this Lobster Roll Sushi with lemonade. but you can pair it with any drink you have.
