This is my first sharing a trifle recipe in my blog, and there is no better than a Pistachio Trifle to start with.

This Pistachio Trifle is really a must-try version of trifles, I didn’t think that Pistachio and honey could make a so delicious combination when you mix them.

Even though you may think that making this Pistachio Trifle is complicated, let me tell you that it’s not. The entire recipe only took me 20 minutes, especially if I opted for an instant pistachio pudding mix. However, if you decide to make the pistachio pudding from scratch, it might take a bit longer.

Using an instant pistachio pudding mix for sure will simplify the process. if you have the time and want to make your Pistachio Trifle with homemade pudding, just go for it, this can be more enjoyable for you.

What is Pistachio Trifle and Why you should try it?

Pistachio Trifle is a dessert that’s like any other Trifle, It’s made of layers of tasty stuff stacked on top of each other in a big, see-through bowl. Inside, you’ll find soft cake, creamy pudding, and Honey. it’s so delicious and creamy, You should try it because it’s so fun to make with your family. You can decorate it however you like, and everyone will enjoy it.

Ingredients

To make this tasty Pistachio Trifle, you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons honey (plus extra for drizzling on top)
  • 1 cup pistachios, shelled and chopped
  • 1 package of sponge cake
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 package of instant pistachio pudding mix

  • Trifle dish or large glass bowl

How to Make Pistachio Trifle?

Prepare the Pistachios and Honey:

Step 1:

Take the pistachios and chop them into small pieces. Keep a handful aside for decoration at the end.

Step 2:

In a bowl, mix the rest of the chopped pistachios with 2 tablespoons of honey. This will make them sweet and crunchy.

Make the Pistachio Pudding:

Step 1:

Get a medium-sized bowl and the instant pistachio pudding mix.

Step 2:

Follow the instructions on the pudding package and use the milk to make the pudding. making the pudding is really easy.

Step 3:

Once the pudding is ready, gently mix in half of the pistachios and honey mixture.

Prepare the Cream Layer:

Step 1:

In another bowl, put the heavy cream, mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.

Step 2:

Use an electric mixer to blend everything together until the mixture is going so smooth.

Layer the Trifle:

Step 1:

Start by putting a layer of sponge cake at the bottom of your trifle dish.

Step 2:

Add a layer of the creamy mixture on top of the pudding.

Step 3:

Repeat these layers: cake and creamy mixture, until you reach the top of the dish.

Step 4:

When you get to the top, finish with a layer of the creamy mixture.

Step 5:

Drizzle more honey on top.

Step 6:

Add the pistachio pudding over the honey.

Step 7:

Decorate the top with the reserved chopped pistachios and use some coconut balls I already had in my kitchen. and Enjoy.

Some Tips!

  • Don’t forget to use a clear glass bowl to show off the beautiful layers.
  • Make sure to spread each layer evenly. This makes the trifle look nice and ensures every bite has all the delicious flavors.
  • If your honey is too thick, warm it in the microwave for a few seconds to make it easier to mix with the pistachios.
  • Ensure the pudding sets properly before mixing in the pistachios and honey
  • Beat the cream mixture until it forms soft peaks, not stiff peaks. This keeps the trifle creamy and smooth.

How to Store Leftovers?

If there’s any Pistachio Trifle left over, you can keep it fresh by covering the bowl with plastic wrap and putting it in the fridge.

You can pair your Pistachio Trifle with a range of main courses such as Salmon Guacamole, or a pasta with pesto sauce, To complement the sweetness of the trifle, enjoy refreshing drinks like sparkling cocktails, or iced tea, this drinks will provide a perfect meal to enjoy.

Can I use different nuts in place of pistachios?

I think not, because the trifle is based on a Pistachio so I suggest not changing any ingredients that contain Pistachio.

Can I make the pudding from scratch instead of using instant mix?

Of course! This can be much better, If you prefer homemade pudding, you can make pistachio pudding from scratch using pistachio paste or ground pistachios, along with milk and sugar.

Can I omit the honey from the recipe?

Yes, you can omit the honey if you prefer a less sweet trifle. The pistachios and creamy layers provide plenty of flavors on their own.

What can I use instead of sponge cake?

If you don’t have sponge cake on hand, you can substitute it with pound cake, angel food cake, or even ladyfingers.
