This is a tasty Blackberry Margarita Smash, a drink with delicious blackberry flavors that you can make in just 5 minutes.

This summer, I was really lazy about making drinks, even though it’s the perfect time to whip them up and share them on my blog.

Instead, I focused on desserts and ice creams, especially banana breads. But yesterday, my husband asked for a blackberry-based drink. I knew I could make classics like Outback Blackberry Sangria, but I wanted something new, easy, and quick that didn’t need too many ingredients or much time.

I found this Blackberry Margarita Smash recipe easy and delicious to make and share. The taste was amazing, and I even made it a bit lighter by using just a small amount of blackberries. I wanted to achieve that beautiful light red color in the drink, which was perfect.

Usually, people serve this Blackberry Margarita Smash with a fancy rim and garnish, but I prefer it in a simple, regular rocks glass without any extras. Of course, you can get creative and serve it however you like!

What is Blackberry Margarita Smash?

The Blackberry Margarita Smash is a simple drink with blackberry flavors, made with muddled blackberries mixed with tequila, triple sec, lime juice, and agave syrup, and then served in a rimmed glass. Usually, the drink has a deep purple color, but for my recipe, I used fewer blackberries, resulting in a light red drink that I really like. The drink is delicious, refreshing, and easy to make at home, plus it looks fancy with that rimmed glass.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup fresh blackberries
  • 2 oz tequila
  • 1 oz triple sec
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 oz agave syrup
  • Ice cubes (enough to fill the glass)

Kitchen Equipment Needed

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Muddler or spoon
  • Strainer
  • Glass for serving

How to Make Blackberry Margarita Smash?

Step 1:

Put the blackberries (I didn’t use much) in a cocktail shaker. Gently squish them, I do it by using the back of a spoon, just enough to get some juice out.

Step 2:

Now, Add 2 oz of tequila, 1 oz of triple sec, 1 oz of fresh lime juice, and 1/2 oz of agave syrup into the shaker with the squished blackberries. shake gently for about 20 seconds.

Step 3:

Pour the drink into your serving glass. I used lots of ice to give my drink a pretty light red color, but this is not necessary, you can use less if you want. Enjoy.

Some Tips!

  • You can Try using a mix of blackberries and raspberries for a mix of flavors and a different shade of light red.
  • If you want a non-alcoholic version, just replace the tequila and triple sec with sparkling water or even lemon-lime soda.
  • Don’t forget to Pour the drink slowly over the ice cubes in the glass to create a beautiful layered effect.
  • Usually, this drink is served in a rimmed glass. If you want to do that too, dip the rim of the glass in lime juice and then in sugar before pouring the drink.

How to Store Any Leftovers?

If you have any leftover Blackberry Margarita Smash, cover the glass with some plastic wrap and keep it in the fridge. It will stay fresh for up to one day. Just give it a good stir before drinking it again.

What to Eat with This Blackberry Margarita Smash?

I served this Blackberry Margarita Smash with some banana cream cookies and blackberry muffins, and both my husband and I loved the combination. You can also try your drink with cheesecake or a dark chocolate tart. This type of drink also pairs well with shrimp sides like shrimp tacos or shrimp tartlets. If you’re in the mood for something simple, buttery shortbread cookies are a delightful match.
