I love to try new recipes in different places in the world, I made this Yangnyeom Sauce just for fried chicken as tuis sauce ie perfect for it.

I looked online for some sauces that can be used for fried chicken, and I found Yangnyeom Sauce, It is a Korean sauce used for fried chicken, fried shrimp, and lots of other meals.

The sauce is not complicated at all, even though it is Korean-style. The main ingredient is gochujang, a Korean red chili paste. Then there’s honey and other common ingredients we often use to make sauces.

Since I love to make my sauces super spicy, I Add more gochujang to make more spicier, But this is optional, you can add more or less as you like.

What is Yangnyeom Sauce?

The sauce isn’t too spicy, so most people can enjoy it. and it can used on fried chicken, as a dip for veggies or fries, in stir-fries, brushed on grilled meat, mixed into noodles, or even poured over rice to make your food extra delicious!

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped green onion
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds

How to Make Yangnyeom Sauce?

First, let’s get all our ingredients ready. If you want the sauce to be smooth, mince the garlic into tiny pieces and chop the green onions really small.

Now, let’s take a big mixing bowl. Put in the gochujang (that’s a spicy Korean paste), soy sauce, honey (or rice syrup), and brown sugar. Use a spoon to mix them all together until the sugar is all melted and everything looks smooth.

Next, we’ll add the minced garlic and sesame oil. These will make the sauce taste even better.

Step 4:

Time to add the rice vinegar! This will make the sauce taste just right by balancing the sweetness and spiciness. If you like your sauce a bit more spicy, you can add some Korean chili flakes (gochugaru) which I did of course.

Step 5:

Finally, let’s fold in the chopped green onions and sprinkle in the toasted sesame seeds.

Step 6:

Now for the fun part! Taste your sauce and see if it needs a little more of anything. If you want it sweeter, add a bit more honey. If you think it needs more tanginess, add a tiny bit more vinegar. And if you want it spicier, you can add a bit more gochujang. And that’s all, Enjoy.
