Last month I made a lot of spicy recipes such as Strawberry Hot Sauce and Candied Habaneros and others, and this time, I’m excited to share one of my favorites, Curry Hot Sauce, just a curry sauce but spicier, by adding cayenne pepper, you can make it as hot as you want.

If you are familiar with curry sauce, I think you will enjoy this Curry Hot Sauce recipe especially if you love this kind of spicy sauce, typically the process of making this recipe is as simple as any other curry sauce.

I made this Curry Hot Sauce to use in many stir-fry dishes I’m planning to make. I’m excited to dive into Asian cuisine, as I have so many recipe ideas to try. Having base creams and sauces ready, like this Curry Hot Sauce, will make my cooking adventures even more delicious and convenient.

What is Curry Hot Sauce?

A spicy version of traditional curry sauce, made with some rich flavors with the fiery kick of cayenne peppers. The cooking process is similar to making any curry but with the simple addition of cayenne peppers that ass that spicy taste, the sauce will be used as a base or as an addition to many dishes, which I made especially to use on lots of Asian dishes I’m planning to make this month.

Ingredients

Before we dive into the cooking process of making this Curry Hot Sauce, let’s gather all the ingredients you’ll need:

  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons curry powder
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

Kitchen Equipment

To make this curry hot sauce, you’ll need the following kitchen equipment:

  • A medium-sized saucepan
  • A blender or food processor
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • A sharp knife
  • A cutting board
  • A wooden spoon or spatula
  • Sterilized glass jars or bottles for storing the sauce

How to Make Curry Hot Sauce?

Step 1:

Start by heating some vegetable oil in a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat. Carefully add the finely chopped onions and minced garlic to the pan. Cook them gently, until the onions look see-through and the garlic smells so good. This will take about 5 minutes.

Step 2:

Now, it’s time to add the spices! Put in the curry powder, turmeric, ground cumin, ground coriander, ground ginger, salt, sugar, and cayenne pepper. Stir everything together so the onions and garlic get covered with the spices. Keep cooking and stirring for another 2-3 minutes.

Step 3:

Next, add the tomato paste to the saucepan. Stir it well with the onions, garlic, and spices. Cook for about 2 more minutes.

Step 4:

Now, pour in the white vinegar and water. Stir everything together until it’s well mixed. Turn up the heat to bring the mixture to a boil, then lower the heat so it simmers gently. Let it cook like this for about 20 minutes.

Step 5:

After the sauce has simmered and thickened, take it off the heat. Let it cool down a bit. Then, pour the sauce into your blender and Blend it until it’s completely smooth.

Step 6:

Finally, pour the smooth hot sauce into your glass jars. Let the sauce cool down completely before you seal the jars. Store your yummy curry hot sauce in the refrigerator. It will stay good for up to 1 month.

some Tips!

  • If you like your sauce less spicy, use less cayenne pepper. If you want more, add more cayenne or even a fresh chili pepper, that’s what usually I do.
  • Also, I add sometimes some honey for a little bit of sweetness.
  • If you prefer, you can use fresh tomatoes instead of tomato paste. Just cook them down longer to make sure the sauce is thick enough.

How to Store Leftovers?

Store any leftover curry hot sauce in the refrigerator in a container with a tight lid. It will stay good for up to 1 month. Always use a clean spoon to take out the sauce so it stays fresh.

Some Ways to Use this Curry Hot Sauce?

You can use this curry hot sauce in so many fun ways! Try using it as a marinade or chicken, fish, or beef before cooking them. It will make your meat extra flavorful and so delicious for sure! You can also mix the sauce with yogurt to make a yummy salad dressing. Just drizzle it over your favorite veggies and greens for a spicy tasty meal. As well as adding curry paste to soups and stews at the start of cooking can make them taste even better! It helps build up all those yummy flavors while your dish cooks.
