Start by rinsing the sushi rice under cold water. Keep rinsing until the water runs clear, which removes excess starch.

Place the rinsed rice and water in a rice cooker and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions. If you don't have a rice cooker, bring the rice and water to a boil in a saucepan. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes.
