This sandwich, packed with beef, sweet peppers, and spices, is unforgettable, and what truly makes it great is the Sweet Peppers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s why I decided to recreate Portillo\u2019s Sweet Peppers at home. They\u2019re so tasty that you can enjoy them on their own or spread them on any meat sandwich you prefer and the taste will be more delicious for sure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The recipe is so simple. At Portillo\u2019s, they use green peppers, but I opted for red and yellow peppers because they\u2019re sweeter and add a lovely, colorful look. Cut off the tops and take out the seeds. Slice them into long, thin strips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_2\"><\/span>Step 2:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In a bowl, mix olive oil, balsamic vinegar, sugar, and dried oregano. Stir until the sugar is gone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_3\"><\/span>Step 3:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Heat a big pan. Add the pepper strips and cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring until they are soft, sometimes I cook the peppers with a little of olive oil (just Little).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_4\"><\/span>Step 4:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour the dressing over the peppers in the pan. Stir well and cook for 2-3 more minutes until the peppers are coated and the dressing is a bit thicker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_5\"><\/span>Step 5:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Take off the heat and add salt and pepper if you like. After cutting off the tops, you can scoop out the seeds with a spoon.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For even more flavor, marinate the peppers for longer before cooking.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sometimes I love to add A pinch of red pepper flakes to add that spicy kick I love.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Store_Leftovers\"><\/span>How to Store Leftovers?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Let them cool down first. Then put them in a tight-sealing container and keep them in the fridge. They\u2019ll stay good for up to 5 days. If you want to keep them longer, put them in a freezer bag and freeze them for up to 3 weeks.
