The main ingredient in this sauce is gochujang, which is a red chili paste from Korea. Gochujang gives the sauce a bit of spiciness, but it also tastes sweet, making it really tasty. The sauce isn’t too spicy, so most people can enjoy it. and it can used on fried chicken, as a dip for veggies or fries, in stir-fries, brushed on grilled meat, mixed into noodles, or even poured over rice to make your food extra delicious!

Ingredients

2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean red chili paste)

1 tablespoon soy sauce

2 tablespoons honey

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

2 teaspoons minced garlic

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon finely chopped green onion

1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds

Kitchen Equipment Needed

To make this Yangnyeom Sauce, you’ll need the following kitchen tools:

Mixing bowl

Whisk or spoon

Measuring spoons

Garlic press (optional)

Knife and cutting board

How to Make Yangnyeom Sauce?

Step 1:

First, let’s get all our ingredients ready. If you want the sauce to be smooth, mince the garlic into tiny pieces and chop the green onions really small.

Step 2:

Now, let’s take a big mixing bowl. Put in the gochujang (that’s a spicy Korean paste), soy sauce, honey (or rice syrup), and brown sugar. Use a spoon to mix them all together until the sugar is all melted and everything looks smooth.

Step 3:

Next, we’ll add the minced garlic and sesame oil. These will make the sauce taste even better.

Step 4:

Time to add the rice vinegar! This will make the sauce taste just right by balancing the sweetness and spiciness. If you like your sauce a bit more spicy, you can add some Korean chili flakes (gochugaru) which I did of course.

Step 5:

Finally, let’s fold in the chopped green onions and sprinkle in the toasted sesame seeds.

Step 6:

Now for the fun part! Taste your sauce and see if it needs a little more of anything. If you want it sweeter, add a bit more honey. If you think it needs more tanginess, add a tiny bit more vinegar. And if you want it spicier, you can add a bit more gochujang. And that’s all, Enjoy.

Some Tips!

If you don’t like your sauce too spicy, start with a small amount of gochujang and add more slowly until it tastes just right for you.

Fresh garlic and green onions will make your sauce taste even better.

Don’t forget to Keep tasting the sauce while you make it. If you want the sauce to be smooth, mince the garlic into tiny pieces and chop the green onions really small.

Now, let's take a big mixing bowl. Put in the gochujang (that's a spicy Korean paste), soy sauce, honey (or rice syrup), and brown sugar.
